Ambient Air Monitoring System Build Technician
Location: Warren, RI

Travel: Required (up to 25%—domestic and occasional international, based on project needs)

About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on technician to join our team in assembling, wiring, and commissioning ambient air monitoring systems used in environmental and industrial applications. This position requires a strong mechanical and electrical skill set, attention to detail, and a willingness to travel for field installations and upgrades. You'll work with instrumentation, pneumatics, and system components both in our lab and at customer sites.
Key Responsibilities
• Assemble system enclosures, racks, sensors, tubing, and fittings
• Route, terminate, and label AC/DC wiring per electrical schematics
• Install connectors, relays, fuses, and manage cable organization
• Plumb and test pneumatic lines and fittings using flow diagrams
• Interpret mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic drawings for builds
• Perform power-up, leak-checks, continuity tests, and functional verification
• Document build results, quality checks, and system diagnostics
• Travel to customer sites for system installation, commissioning, and upgrades
• Collaborate with engineering and project management on system build needs
Required Qualifications
• Experience with hand and power tools (drills, drivers, cutters, torque tools, multimeters)
• Electrical wiring experience (panel wiring, low-voltage DC, AC familiarity)
• Ability to read and follow schematics and pneumatic diagrams
• Strong attention to detail and a quality-first mindset
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders or stands as needed
• Willingness to travel up to 25%, including occasional overnights or weekends
• Strong documentation and troubleshooting skills
Preferred Experience
• Experience with environmental or process instrumentation (analyzers, pumps, valves, flow controllers)
• Familiarity with NEC basics and panel-building standards
• Experience with tubing (PTFE or stainless), compression fittings, leak testing
• Comfort using Microsoft 365 tools for build logs and reporting
