Sample Receiving Technician
The Sample Receiving Technician is responsible for accurately logging and verifying all incoming samples to ensure they match accompanying chain‑of‑custody documentation. This role supports smooth laboratory operations by maintaining precise records, preparing bottle orders, assisting walk‑in clients, and managing sample storage, shipping, and disposal.
Key Responsibilities
The Sample Receiving Technician is responsible for accurately logging and verifying all incoming samples to ensure they match accompanying chain‑of‑custody documentation. This role supports smooth laboratory operations by maintaining precise records, preparing bottle orders, assisting walk‑in clients, and managing sample storage, shipping, and disposal.
Key Responsibilities
- Log and verify incoming samples in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and document sample condition.
- Review paperwork for accuracy, obtain required signatures, and complete log‑in checklists.
- Perform required testing following Trace SOPs and provide feedback for updates when needed.
- Prepare bottle orders, ship bottle kits and subcontract samples, and ensure correct labeling.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and support general lab operations as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of good laboratory practices.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to multitask under time‑sensitive conditions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods (8 hours).
- Manual dexterity for routine lab tasks.
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
Work Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM, with overtime as needed.
- Occasional after‑hours or weekend work.
- Regular, consistent attendance required.
- Lunch breaks scheduled daily.
