Saw Operator

• Set up and operate power saws (reciprocating, band or circular) to cut material to required lengths or contour in accordance with specifications.
• Measure and mark materials according to cutting specifications using calipers, gauges, or tape measures.
• Install saw blades prescribed for type of material, set stop gauges, saw speeds and indexing mechanisms such as may be provided for automatic posting of materials: may be required to replace and align band sawblades.
• Position and secure materials on the bed of the machine using clamping arrangements or fixture devices: check pilot piece for dimension.
• Inspect finished cuts for quality and accuracy; make necessary adjustments to maintain standards.
• Label, tag, and prepare materials for next stage of processing or shipment.
• Adhere to company safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Communicate with supervisors and quality control team regarding material issues or process improvements.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years of experience operating saws or similar machinery in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and measuring instruments.
• Familiarity with basic math and measuring systems (imperial and metric).
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to stand, lift, bend, and work on feet for extended periods; must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Forklift certification is a plus.
