Job Title: Material Planner / Supply Chain Planner
Location: Holland, MI- Onsite 5days
Contract: 6 Months Contract with possible extension
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Material Planner to manage the inbound flow of materials from suppliers, ensuring on-time delivery and optimal inventory levels to support production requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong SAP experience, excellent analytical skills, and a solid understanding of supply chain planning principles including JIT, lean manufacturing, and inventory management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage inventory levels for assigned materials and components to ensure uninterrupted production while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
- Coordinate inbound material movement from suppliers and monitor delivery performance.
- Support production scheduling and customer requirements by ensuring material availability and proactively identifying potential supply constraints.
- Resolve material shortages through supplier collaboration, substitute materials, partial shipments, and other cost-effective solutions while minimizing expedited freight and production disruptions.
- Utilize SAP and other material planning tools to manage inventory, track material requirements, generate reports, and support operational decision-making.
- Analyze supply chain, inventory, and production data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with Purchasing, Production, Master Scheduling, Customer Service, Engineering, and Supplier teams to ensure alignment of material requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing waste, improving inventory accuracy, and enhancing supply chain efficiency.
- Support lean manufacturing and Just-In-Time (JIT) inventory strategies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related field; OR
- Associate's Degree with 2 years of related experience; OR
- 4 years of relevant supply chain, inventory planning, or material planning experience in lieu of post-secondary education.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong experience with SAP (required).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience analyzing supply chain, inventory, and production data.
- Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferred).
- Understanding of Just-In-Time (JIT) concepts, Lean Manufacturing, and Theory of Constraints.
- Experience with inventory planning, replenishment, forecasting, and material flow management.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
