Thompson Pipe Group is currently looking for a Machinist III.
This person will be responsible for the machining and milling all steel products entering their work station. They must measuring each dimension and check their work closely and make very precise adjustments as they go. They will need to be resident experts on machining and milling steel.
Essential Functions
- Must be able to read and write legibly.
- Must be able to read/understand and work from shop drawings.
- Must be able to operate overhead crane and jib hoist.
- Must be able to operate forklift.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years or more of experience using metal machining tools such as but not limited to vertical boring mills, horizontal and vertical lathes, drill presses, other similar machines.
- Experience in taking and working from extremely precise measurements.
- CNC machine operation experience is preferred, but not required.
- Must have a safety-first attitude.
- Be respectful to all persons.
- Be responsible, dependable, and trustworthy.
- Must pass a forklift safety course and demonstrate safe practices.
- Must be able to pass practical and written overhead crane training course.
- Must be familiar with machinery and possess a basic mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to understand and interpret drawings for basic dimensions.
- Flexible for non-standard working hours.
- Must have good organizational/housekeeping skills and problem resolution skills.
- Required to lift and move objects up to 50lbs.
