What are the responsibilities and job description for the Journeyman Pipefitter position at TP Mechanical Contractors?

Position Summary: Responsible for daily work at sites of TP Mechanical Contractors. Work includes all types of pipefitting and welding. Individual should be able to read and understand blueprints, communicate effectively with all other persons on the jobsite, including our sub-contractors, and represent TP Mechanical Contractors in a professional manner.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Able to layout and fit up pipe systems.
- Ability to weld pipe in all positions. Has knowledge of all welding procedures.
- Can sweat or braze copper systems.
- Installs hangars or supports for systems.
- Can assemble and install H.V.A.C equipment, as necessary.
- Keeps equipment in good working order and insures proper and timely maintenance is performed on equipment
- Follows all OSHA and TP standards for safety. Keeps work area clear of unnecessary clutter and performs routine clean-up as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience/Qualifications Required:
o Minimum 5 years experience of pipefitting/welding in field plumbing operations.
o Completion of Apprenticeship program preferred.
Job Skills:
- Ability to read, understand, and install according to blueprints
- Knowledge of general plumbing and piping installation.
- Working knowledge of all hand and power tools.
- Ability to effectively communicate issues and concerns with Superintendent and Project Manager
- Ability to plan and forecast people, material, and equipment needs
- Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy and productivity.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to pass pipe certification test (S.M.A.W.)
- Knowledge of hydronic and HVAC
Education: High School or GED equivalent
- Minimum of 150 hours in pipe welding courses
Physical Requirements:
- Eyesight correctable to 20/50
- Able to perform shift work
- Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 60 lbs.
- Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Special Requirements:
- Valid Drivers License
- Journeyman’s license if required
