We are seeking a Director of Engineering, Smart Home to lead our flagship smart camera and doorbell product lines. This role directly manages the embedded software engineering team responsible for developing core product functionality. Beyond software, you will act as the engineering owner of the entire project lifecycle—coordinating across hardware, manufacturing, cloud, and mobile teams to deliver high-quality products from concept to market.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the embedded software team: Drive feature development, quality, and innovation in smart home camera products
- Own end-to-end product delivery: Act as the R&D project lead, ensuring alignment and execution across hardware, production, cloud services, and mobile apps
- Shape product direction: Partner with Product Management to translate customer needs into feasible solutions, from early research to production launch
- Define technical roadmap: Guide system architecture and ensure scalable, secure, and reliable designs
- Coordinate global collaboration: Align international R&D resources, bridge cultural gaps, and enable seamless teamwork
- Build and grow teams: Recruit, mentor, and inspire top talent while fostering a culture of innovation and accountability
Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in software/hardware engineering, including 5 years in an engineering leadership role
- Strong technical background in embedded systems/software, with proven ability to represent engineering across hardware, cloud, and mobile
- Track record of end-to-end product ownership—from architecture and development through manufacturing and market launch
- Demonstrated success in building and scaling high-performing engineering teams and leading large-scale, cross-functional projects
- Deep understanding of software development lifecycles, agile methodologies, and modern engineering practices
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical teams and executive stakeholders
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred
- Bilingual in English and Mandarin is a plus, but not required
Salary range: $180,000-$250,000
