A collision repair disassembly technician carefully disassembles a damaged vehicle to locate all hidden damage and create an accurate parts list. This involves removing parts according to the manufacturer's repair procedures, documenting all damaged and reusable components, and creating a detailed report for the estimator to ensure a complete and proper repair. They use various tools to deconstruct the vehicle and manage parts by bagging and tagging hardware and separating parts for reuse or replacement.

Key responsibilities and tasks

  • Disassembly:

Carefully remove all damaged exterior and interior parts, including trim, body panels, and mechanical components, using specific hand tools and following OEM procedures.

  • Damage identification:

Uncover and document any hidden or secondary damage that wasn't visible during the initial inspection.

  • Part management:

Keep all removed hardware, fasteners, and parts organized by bagging and tagging them to ensure proper reassembly. Damaged parts are separated from those that can be reused.

  • Documentation:

Compile a detailed report of all damaged and missing parts to be submitted to the estimator and insurance company. This includes identifying one-time-use fasteners and blend panels.

  • Collaboration:

Work with the repair planner or estimator to ensure the supplement to the initial estimate accurately reflects all necessary parts and repairs.

This job duty includes any other job duties as assigned or specified.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
