Toyota’s Environmental Sustainability Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Principal Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to lead environmental regulatory tracking and advocacy for Toyota’s North American stationary operations.
Reporting to the General Manager, the person in this role will support the Environmental Sustainability department's objective to provide sustained positive environmental, societal, and financial value.

The primary responsibility of this role is to lead environmental regulatory tracking and advocacy for Toyota’s North American stationary operations.
Reporting to the General Manager, the person in this role will support the Environmental Sustainability department's objective to provide sustained positive environmental, societal, and financial value.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leads benchmarking/data gathering/legislative & regulatory analysis and evaluation/communication of potential impacts across the organization
- Develops tactical solutions and implementation plans to ensure environmental regulatory developments are identified, evaluated and communicated across the enterprise.
- Tracks environmental sustainability standards/guidelines and evaluates impacts (e.g., GHG Protocol, etc.)
- Advise management on environmental regulatory issues and policies.
- Supports strategic policy development and interacts with government, NGOs, and industry.
- Supports projects/programs to achieve carbon and water goals using proven and innovative technology and management techniques.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, or equivalent and relevant professional work experience (5 or more years)
- Knowledge of key industrial regulatory programs (e.g., CAA, CWA, etc.)
- Direct experience tracking both federal and state environmental regulatory developments
- Direct experience in an automotive business or manufacturing environment
- Experience with stakeholder engagement and communication
- Demonstrated ability to develop strategies to achieve long-term objectives working with diverse sets of stakeholders
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to drive consensus
- Experience in leading workgroups that span across the organization including progress report coordination and dissemination
- Experience working directly with Trade Associations and Regulators to track regulatory developments and advocate
- Experience with sustainability reporting frameworks such as GRI or CDP
- Knowledge of key industrial energy and water management strategies and familiarity with the renewable power sector
