Job Overview:
The Data Analytics Intern will support the Agency Operations Department by helping shift from manual Nexsure reporting to more efficient, query‑based analytics using AWS Athena. The intern will assist with SQL queries, commission statement analysis, and dashboard creation to improve accuracy, streamline reporting, and save time across Operations.
Intern Job Responsibilities:
- Support the development and maintenance of databases using AWS Athena and other AWS tools.
- Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries for data extraction and analysis.
- Assist in building, updating, and automating dashboards in Power BI.
- Perform data cleaning, validation, and transformation using advanced Excel functions.
- Collaborate with the Commission team to prepare monthly and ad‑hoc reporting.
- Analyze trends and provide insights to support operational decision‑making.
- Document processes, data flows, and reporting procedures.
- Support various projects within the Operations department as needed.
Required Education and Experience:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience with SQL (basic to intermediate query writing required).
- Familiarity with AWS services, especially Athena (preferred but not required if willing to learn).
- Strong Power BI skills (building visuals, dashboards, data modeling).
- Advanced Excel skills include VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas, and data tools.
- Basic programming knowledge (Python or similar is a plus).
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with large datasets.
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts.
- Familiarity with cloud-based data tools or BI platforms.

Compensation
- Base Salary: $20-$24 based on skills and experience
- Minimum experience: Entry-level candidate; current college junior or senior, or pursuing a master’s degree.
Position Type/Expected Hours of work/Compensation:
This is a full-time position for the months of May - August. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
