Bastian Automation, a division of Toyota Automated Logistics, is seeking a Controls Engineer for their Autonomous Vehicle division in Georgetown, KY.
Job Overview:
The AV Controls Engineer will assist in developing new technologies as determined by Toyota Automated Logistics Management. Time frames for prototypes will be Project Managed and need to be functionally and aesthetically pleasing as we plan to demonstrate these new technologies to our customers. Projects will be confidential through the pilot project as not to impact our current relationships with partner manufacturers. This position works directly with the AV Engineering Manager and various manufacturing business units (Internal and External).
Job Functions:
- Travel to customer site for project support.
- Participate in design and requirements reviews.
- Testing: IC/Motor Component/Power/Communications Assemblies.
- Field trips as necessary to learn about technology.
- Develop simulated and physical models of the circuitry for AV.
- Collaborate with external partners to assist in the design or development of prototypes.
- Coordinate and assist with other engineers in prototype development: Design, Software, Fabrication, etc.
- Participate in corporate social and team building events.
- Participate in local community outreach events.
Travel Requirements:
- 30% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Bastian Automation)
- Employees must maintain a valid driver's license and passport
Required Qualifications and Preferred Skills:
- Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Master’s Degree a plus.
- Demonstrable Experience working with Cadence, AutoCAD or similar electrical design/simulation solution.
- Comfortable with tools of trade(MATLAB, Signal Generators, Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Volt meters, Power Monitoring Systems)
- Working experience with AGV or Robotics Industry technologies (PLC’s, Motors, Servos, Motor Controllers, Power Circuits, RFID, Encoders, Sensors etc.…)
- Capable of developing and modifying scripts, programs and intermediate UI’s.
- Working knowledge of ROS, Open CV, and AI theory a plus
- Strong understanding of electrical theory and circuit design
- Effective at integrating off the shelf electrical component systems and or designing custom solutions as needed.
- Strong, effective communication skills.
- Ability to analyze engineering problems and develop creative solutions.
- Excellent organization and prioritization of daily tasks and projects.
- Ability to multi-task while maintaining progress toward completing tasks.
- Problem Solver, Experimenter, Positive, team oriented attitude
