Our vision for this position is to provide support to the Electrical Engineering staff in ensuring the electrical components, equipment, and systems are designed, installed, and maintained in such a manner that will promote a high degree of reliability in meeting or exceeding process requirements by performing the following duties.
Essential duties and responsibilities: (Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.)
Designs, tests, installs, and maintains large-scale electronic equipment or machinery for use in manufacturing, power generation, or transmission.
May use computer-assisted engineering design software and equipment to perform assignments.
Applies principles and techniques of electrical engineering to accomplish goals.
Confers with vendors, contractors, maintenance personnel, and other engineers concerning the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems to ensure equipment and systems are process capable.
Confers with planning and design staff concerning equipment design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
Confers with vendors to determine equipment specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates equipment according to specifications and quality standards.
Researches and analyzes data such as equipment design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design for application.
Designs products or systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems.
Plans and directs engineering personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and development of methods and procedures for testing equipment or systems.
Directs and coordinates fabrication and installation activities to ensure equipment and systems conform to engineering design and specifications.
Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment.
Designs products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software.
Evaluates installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
Applies statistical methods to estimate equipment capability to meet future manufacturing requirements.
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
Must have the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical systems to the component level
Must be able to design or modify electrical controls and systems to improve reliability and productivity of manufacturing machinery
Must be competent in programming and troubleshooting controls with emphasis on motion controllers. Preferably Mitsubishi PLC’s
Must be able to perform calibration of electrical systems and components
Must have the ability to read, interpret, troubleshoot, and modify complex PLC and Servo programs.
Must have the ability to troubleshoot and repair PLC systems
Must communicate and work in a professional manner with associates from all departments.
Must be able to manage projects from concept to implementation
Must interface well with vendors and contractors to obtain parts, equipment, and services in a cost effective and timely manner
Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
Pluses: have utilities experience, instrumentation, CAD programming

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET) from an accredited four-year college or university. Five (5) years of related experience and/or training.
