Operating Room Nurse

Overview

We are currently searching for an experienced Operating Room Nurse to work Full-Time in our Monday–Friday ambulatory multi-specialty surgery center. This role is critical to the daily function of the center. Fast-paced Multi specialty center with a diverse case mix seeking a self-motivated, team-oriented nurse with strong clinical skills and strong critical care skills.

Major responsibilities include coordinating day-to -day patient care, and patient follow up. Each staff member is actively involved with assisting with infection control rounding and audits, and ensuring documentation workflows are completed appropriately. This role will also rotate between PACU and Pre-Op to assist with patient care, including preparing patients for procedures, assisting physicians during procedures, and providing care in recovery.

Employees are expected to actively participate in QAPI activities, focus studies, and other responsibilities that contribute to the effective and compliant operation of the center.

Candidate must demonstrate proficiency in acute care nursing, strong communication skills, and the ability to work cooperatively with staff, physicians, and patients. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, hold a current state RN license. ASC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment, arranging surgical instruments, and ensuring all necessary supplies are available for procedures.
• Assist surgeons and anesthesia providers during surgeries by passing instruments, managing equipment like ventilators and suction devices, and maintaining aseptic technique throughout procedures.
• Monitor patient vital signs, assess patient condition pre- and post-operation, and provide immediate care for acute pain management or emergency situations.
• Document all aspects of patient care accurately, including medication administration, procedural notes, and vital signs.
• Support patient safety by adhering to infection control protocols, HIPAA regulations for medical records confidentiality, and OSHA standards for workplace safety.
• Assist with complex procedures within the following service lines:
• .Plastics, ENT, GYN, General, Cardiac, Dental, Breast.
• Pediatric and Adult cases

Requirements

Ambulatory Surgical Center Experience preferred

• Valid nursing license with current registration; experience in perioperative nursing strongly preferred.
• Proven OR experience with familiarity in aseptic technique and sterile processing protocols.
• Knowledge of advanced medical terminology, anatomy knowledge relevant to surgical procedures, and physiology understanding for patient assessment..
• Critical care experience including ICU or PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) is highly desirable; trauma center experience is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments such as Level I or Level II trauma centers or emergency medicine settings.
• Strong skills in IV infusion/insertion, phlebotomy, medication administration, airway management, and ventilator support.

Pay: $44.00 - $49.00 per hour
