Summary: The Township of Montclair is seeking a full-time Assistant Municipal Treasurer to support financial operations and supervise staff performing accounting and clerical tasks. Responsibilities include assisting with budgeting, financial reporting, bank reconciliations, deposits, receipts, disbursements, and maintaining accounting controls. The role supports year-end revenue closeout; prepares monthly and annual financial statements; oversees check processing; administers the Medicare Part B reimbursement program; maintains financial records; reviews revenue reports; processes the annual UCC report; and completes special projects for the CFO. Strong analytical skillsand the ability to work effectively with staff, auditors, and the public are essential.
Duties: Assists with the recording of all Township receipts and disbursements according to established procedures while maintaining adequate controls. * Assists with the preparation of bank reconciliation, bank deposits, and petty cash. * Supervise the workflow in the Accounting area. * Enters all reimbursements to appropriate budget accounts.Reviews revenue reports with Comptroller after closing of the month. * Coordinates the year-end closing for all municipal revenue deposits. * Assists Comptroller in the preparation of Finance Statements. * Supervises the preparation and distribution of Township checks in payment of outstanding obligations. * Prepares and submits monthly and annual reports of receipts, disbursement and bank balances for entry into Township records. * Oversees and administers the payment of quarterly Medicare Part B reimbursement program for retirees. * Process the Uniform Construction Cod (UCC) Annual report to the State of NJ. * Special projects as required by the Chief Financial Officer/Director of Finance. * Assists with the establishment and maintenance of extensive bookkeeping and other needed records and files.
Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent, and five (5) years municipal finance experience, including one year in municipal accounting or auditing with 21 accounting credits; OR a bachelor's degree with 21 accounting credits and four (4) years professional supervisory accounting experience, including one year in municipal accounting or auditing.
Salary range and schedule: $67,390.00 - $94,658.00. Includes generous PTO, health benefits and state pension membership. Salary is commensurate with experience. Full-time; thirty-five (35) hours per week.
