What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker-Ice Arena position at Township of East Brunswick?
The Township of East Brunswick is accepting applications for a full-time Maintenance Worker within the Recreation & Parks department. This position will ensure the daily upkeep of the East Brunswick Ice Arena and work with the Ice Arena Division under general day-to-day coordination of the Ice Arena Operations Coordinator and under supervision of the Ice Arena General Manager. Primary responsibilities include:
- Daily cleaning, sanitizing, stocking and upkeep of all restroom facilities, locker rooms, common areas, and office spaces.
- Performing a variety of tasks and manual labor in the maintenance and minor repairs of the Ice Arena, small machinery, locker rooms, restrooms, rooms, public areas and structures.
- Operating/maintaining light, medium, and heavy-duty equipment including mechanical brooms, and other maintenance equipment.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all Ice Arena Staff, contractors, groups and the public.
- Coordinating the on-site flow of work assignments to ensure safety and productivity.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
The primary hours of this position may include nights, weekends, and holidays. This position may/may not operate on a modified rotating schedule.
Note: This position may/may not become a shared employee with the Parks Division under the supervision of the Director of Recreation & Parks during off-peak ice arena season which may include/require the ability to perform outdoor maintenance within the Township’s Park System.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Must be able to the use of a variety of products, chemicals, and electronic cleaning equipment in performing simple routine manual labor.
- Must be able to operate/maintain light, medium, and heavy-duty equipment including mechanical brooms, and other maintenance equipment.
- Must have the ability to work independently.
Experience: Experience in maintenance of large-scale public properties, maintenance systems and operation, repair and maintenance of small machinery, motors, equipment, and facilities.
Education: Requires a high school diploma or equivalency.
Licensing & Certification: Valid NJ driver’s license and be a resident of NJ.
