ASSIGNMENT: 10 Month, 198 Days
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: This is specialized work involving data entry, tabulation and maintenance of daily student attendance records as well as performing a variety of duties for the DHSSSW. There is extensive contact with students, staff and parents, which requires the ability to deal with people in a courteous and tactful manner. There is daily contact with the public.
An employee in this position works within clearly established systems and procedures, must exhibit organizational skills and exercise independent judgment and confidentiality in the performance of duties. The Attendance Assistant must exhibit initiative and embrace a collaborative team approach to accomplish the mission of the district.

Qualifications
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have physical ability to lift/move supplies, materials and office equipment up to 40 lbs.
- Must sit at workstation for extended period of time and/or move frequently from workstation to various other areas of building.
- Must organize and prioritize workflow.
- Must be proficient in the use of computers, office practices, procedures and office equipment.
- Must project a positive image of the district to students, staff and parents as well as exhibit a positive employee attitude.
- Must demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills, and communicate clearly and respectfully with students, staff, parents, visitors and the general public.
- Must have awareness of a variety of student needs including physical and social emotional needs.
- Must complete district approved Crisis Prevention Institute training (CPI).
- Must assemble and organize data and prepare reports.
- Assisting in the efficient and effective functioning of the office including but not limited to:
- recording attendance by receiving telephone calls and voice messages from parents
- issuing admits and tardy slips according to school attendance policies.
- Assisting the DHSSSW and School Resource Officer in the efficient and effective functioning of the office including but not limited to:
- maintaining daily attendance records and confidential student files
- preparing ID cards
- compiling and maintaining discipline data
- contacting parents regarding discipline and attendance
- scheduling appointments
- Assisting students in the following ways including but not limited to:
- contacting and securing the help of the parent or appropriate school personnel
- contacting parents or referring students who appear ill, distraught or otherwise in need to appropriate services
- monitoring students who provide help in the attendance office
- Assisting staff and parents by delivering messages to students, providing attendance related information and providing general school information.
- Promoting a safe school environment by observing and reporting behavior of students, parents and visitors in the office.
- Participating in appropriate professional development activities in order to enhance job performance.
- Cultivating and developing inclusive and equitable working relationships with staff, students and community members.
