Janitorial Worker - Columbia Center Mall

Township Building Services is looking to hire full time and part time janitors and porters throughout the TRI CITIES area. This position is responsible for performing janitorial duties.

Duties include cleaning building floors and stairways, servicing, cleaning and supplying restrooms and locker rooms, cleaning windows, dusting furniture, event set-up/break-down, moving heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies and responding to off the hook and unlock requests from the front desk. Position requires high school diploma or equivalent and at least 6 months experience as a Janitor. Experience with carpet cleaning equipment a plus.

Requirements and Qualifications * ; Effective English reading and speaking skills are preferred. This includes the ability to speak clearly and fully comprehend written and spoken English, and will include communication with people from whom English is a second language. * ; Must be at least 18 years of age; possess a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and proof of insurance. * ; Successful completion of a criminal history background check. Physical Abilities

• Physical strength, agility and endurance to walk/stand for prolonged periods of time. * ; Bend/reach, lift, pull or push objects weighing up to 50-100 pounds or more. * ; Climb ladders and operate heavy machinery. * ; Bend, crouch, and maneuver body in tight, cramped quarters. * ; Twist body at 45 degree angles. * ; Wear personal protective and safety gear when appropriate. * ; Exposure to cleaning agents and chemicals, dust and other environmental conditions is expected in janitorial work. * ; Furniture moving requires the use of appliance dollies, desk movers, a flatbed truck with lift and physical strength.

TYPICAL DAILY DUTIES, ALL OFFICES/ MEDICAL SUITES:

OFFICE/ EXAMINATION ROOMS, LUNCH ROOM & SERVICE AREAS:

• Detail vacuum corners under cubicles and under desks.
• Dust air vents within reach.
• Damp wipe and dust window sills.
• Edge vacuum and wipe baseboards.
• Clean behind doors-
• Brush office chairs-
• Change liners and wipe trash cans if necessary.
• Spot clean walls and partition glass.
• Detail dust partitions, desks and cabinets.
• Spot clean carpets, walls, glass and doors-
• Dump and dispose of trash and recycled materials.

RESTROOMS:

• Clean vents, disinfects and wipes clean the partitions. Dust tops of all partitions, rails & fixtures.
• Clean chrome partition bases, clean mirrors and bright work. Leave surfaces mark free.
• Detail clean urinals, in and under, toilet seats, top and under, and around toilets-
• Scrub the ceramic floors with a deck brush and rinse-
• Disinfect tampon disposal & urinals-
• Toilet and Urinal Brushes, mops and rags may not be used on any other surfaces.

TYPICAL DAILY DUTIES, RETAIL, DRUG & GROCERY STORES:

• Sweeps and dust mops floors-
• Cleans the floor with an auto scrubber- Uses Caution Tape & Safety signs in all areas ,-
• Buffs the floor with a Propane or Electric Burnisher-
• Cleans entrance metal, floor drains and door glass-
• Empties trash and dumps trash as needed-
• Cleans & restocks restrooms , use wet floor sign or restroom closed signs - Removes graffiti on walls, fixtures & partitions-
• Sweeps & scrubs warehouse, sidewalk and back room areas as directed-
• Cleans office and break rooms-
• Cleans edges, glass cases and window ledges-
• Distributes 15 to 20 wet floor signs every day prior to starting work.
• Cleans & sweeps the front of the store daily, dusts window, dumps outside trash containers & replaces the plastic trash liner daily-
