Job Summary
The Floor Care Technician is responsible for performing specialized floor maintenance services at commercial properties, including carpet care, resilient floor care, hard surface restoration, and other specialty cleaning services. This position requires a strong attention to detail, the ability to operate commercial floor care equipment safely and efficiently, and a commitment to delivering exceptional results for our clients.
The ideal candidate takes pride in producing high-quality work, can work independently or as part of a team, and is willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, and occasional weekends, based on customer schedules.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform commercial floor care services including:
- Carpet extraction
- Carpet encapsulation
- Strip and wax resilient flooring
- Scrub and recoat floors
- Burnishing and buffing
- Tile and grout cleaning
- Concrete cleaning and sealing
- Floor polishing and restoration
- Operate commercial floor equipment including:
- Auto scrubbers
- Burnishers
- Swing machines
- Carpet extractors
- Wet vacuums
- Floor polishers
- Properly mix and apply cleaning chemicals according to manufacturer recommendations.
- Set up, maintain, and clean equipment before and after each project.
- Load and unload company vehicles with equipment and supplies.
- Inspect completed work to ensure Township Building Services' quality standards are met.
- Communicate professionally with customers while on-site.
- Complete work orders and required documentation accurately.
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Assist with other specialty cleaning services as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous commercial floor care experience preferred.
- Experience stripping and waxing VCT floors preferred.
- Experience operating commercial floor care equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb stairs for extended periods.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
- IICRC Carpet Cleaning Certification (preferred but not required)
- Experience with commercial janitorial services
- Experience working in occupied commercial buildings
- Knowledge of floor finishes, sealers, and restoration techniques
