Position Summary
The Remote Trimmer Foreman is responsible for leading and supervising crews that operate remote-controlled tree trimming and removal equipment. This position ensures all remote operations—including remote saws, spider lifts, compact cutters, grapples, and robotic trimmers—are performed safely and efficiently in support of vegetation management, utility line clearance, and hazard tree removal. The Foreman directs daily activities, performs safety planning, trains personnel, communicates with utility partners, and maintains high-quality work standards while operating or assisting with specialized remote equipment.

Leadership & Crew Management
- Lead and supervise remote trimming crews performing utility line clearance, hazard tree removal, and right-of-way maintenance.
- Assign tasks to operators and ground crew, monitor productivity, and ensure work quality meets project specifications.
- Train personnel in safe and effective use of remote-controlled trimming equipment.
- Conduct daily safety briefings, job hazard analyses, and work-planning sessions.
- Foster teamwork, clear communication, and a positive work environment.
- Enforce all OSHA, ANSI Z133, DOT, and company safety standards regarding remote trimming operations.
- Identify hazards including overhead utilities, unstable trees, slopes, equipment roll risks, and drop zones.
- Ensure proper PPE use and adherence to lockout, clearance, and communication procedures.
- Maintain safe work zones, including traffic control when required.
- Report and document incidents, near-misses, and safety concerns promptly.
- Operate or supervise operation of remote-controlled tree trimming and removal systems, including:
- Remote saw heads
- Spider lifts or tracked aerial platforms
- Compact forestry mulchers
- Grapple saw systems
- Remote-controlled stump grinders
- Oversee precise cutting, lifting, and controlled removal operations.
- Ensure operators follow proper cutting sequences, equipment load limits, and positioning techniques.
- Coordinate machine movements with ground crew and climbers to maintain workflow and safety.
- Review work orders, trimming specifications, and utility clearance requirements.
- Assess job sites to determine appropriate equipment, crew size, and safety measures.
- Communicate directly with utility representatives, property owners, and supervisors regarding project needs and progress.
- Adjust work plans based on terrain, weather, hazards, or customer needs.
- Inspect finished work to ensure trimming cuts, debris removal, and clearance distances meet company and utility standards.
- Provide coaching to operators and ground crew when work quality requires improvement.
- Ensure work sites are left clean, safe, and restored as required.

Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3–5 years of experience in tree trimming or vegetation management
- Strong understanding of remote-controlled tree trimming systems and cutting techniques
- Ability to read and execute cut plans, clearance diagrams, and utility specs
- Knowledge of ANSI Z133 and safe cutting procedures
- Ability to instruct and coach crew members on safe equipment operation
- Excellent situational awareness and hazard identification skills
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and communicate clearly with supervisors and utilities
- Strong leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with remote-operated trimming equipment preferred
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred
- Ability to pass company drug test, background check, and physical exam
- Certifications such as Line Clearance Tree Trimmer, First Aid/CPR, or relevant equipment training preferred
