Summary
The Endoscopy Technician is responsible for scrubbing and assisting the physician for all cases. After completion of each
case, the technician will be on standby for sterile technician needs which includes the following aspects of sterile processing
to include decontamination, preparation packaging sterilization and sterile storage while adhering to department policies
and procedures.

Summary
The Endoscopy Technician is responsible for scrubbing and assisting the physician for all cases. After completion of each
case, the technician will be on standby for sterile technician needs which includes the following aspects of sterile processing
to include decontamination, preparation packaging sterilization and sterile storage while adhering to department policies
and procedures.
Essential Functions
- Identifies and follows manufactures instructions to sort, disassemble, decontaminate, rinse, and disinfect
- Facilitates room turnovers, troubleshoots problems and repairs
- Identifies and inspects instruments for cleanliness and functionality
- Reviews instrumentation needs with management
- Assembles and prepares instrumentation for sterilization
- Selects appropriate sterilization methods and follows manufactures recommendations for sterilization method
- Utilizes count sheets consistently to correctly assemble, protect, wrap containerize and/or peel pack and label instrumentations
- Documents and verifies sterilization loads and biological test to determine the efficacy of the sterilization process
- Handles sterile products properly and ensures stock is placed in the proper location
- Maintain inventory and stock operating par levels for stored instrumentation and emergency carts
- Delivers instrumentation to as needed to the operating room
- Makes rounds consistently through the operating rooms and confirms instrumentation needs are met
- Prepares carts from pick list and work with specialty surgical instrumentation
- Adheres to the proper handling of garbage, linen, and biohazardous materials, maintaining a clean and orderly work area
- Provides guidance and training to other staff as needed
- Performs other related duties as assigned to support the hospital
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of sterile technique related to operating room preparation and procedures
- Demonstrates proficiency in medical and surgical technology
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of operating equipment and supplies
- Demonstrates leadership skills
- Formal training as Endoscopy Technician or
- One (1) year of clinical experience as an Endoscopy Technician in lieu of formal training
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certified
