Townsen Memorial Hospital is looking for a PRN Night/Weekend Dietary Aide/Cafeteria Technician to join our team!
The Dietary Aide/Cafeteria Technician role will be responsible for preparing and serving food items to patients, staff, and visitors as well as maintaining food service facilities in a safe and sanitary condition, ensuring health and safety standards are respected, and solving customer inquiries.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Compensation to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
Employment for this position is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
The Dietary Aide/Cafeteria Technician role will be responsible for preparing and serving food items to patients, staff, and visitors as well as maintaining food service facilities in a safe and sanitary condition, ensuring health and safety standards are respected, and solving customer inquiries.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Apportions and serves food to patients, employees, or patrons
- Cleans and inspects equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation
- Maintains kitchen and dining area logs of such areas accurately and timely
- Performs serving, cleaning, and stocking duties in order to facilitate customer service
- Prepares kitchen area for health inspections; ensures all regulatory and health department rules are followed at all times
- Maintains clean and orderly checkout areas and completes other general cleaning duties such as mopping floorings and emptying trash cans
- Maintains adequate supplies of items such as, silverware, glassware, dishes, and trays
- Washes pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other cooking equipment
- Assists in daily cash handling and daily deposit transactions as needed
- Estimates daily and weekly needs and keeps daily record of meals served and takes inventory of supplies and equipment
- Provides services to cafeteria consumers in an efficient and friendly manner
- Preps menu items using established policies and procedures with input from the Dietitian
- Prepares kitchen and cafeteria for next day service
- Coordinates and participates with regularly scheduled quality checks of the food quality, temperature checks in collaboration with the Dietitian
- Performs other related duties as assigned to support the hospital
- Competent and conscientious with a customer-oriented approach
- Effective communication skills
- Knowledge of sanitation and safety guidelines
- Understanding of dietary restrictions and ability to accommodate special dietary needs
- Current and unencumbered Food Handler certification in the State of Texas
- Six (6) months of food preparation in a healthcare setting and knowledgeable of all regulatory requirements for serving food to patients and visitors
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified
