Job Overview
Towne Construction Services/Townescapes LLC is hiring a Fleet Manager to own the performance, compliance, cost, and professional presentation of our vehicles and equipment across the business. This role blends data-driven fleet economics (true cost of ownership for estimating and decisions) with hands-on coordination (maintenance planning, equipment moves, rentals, and compliance).
Duties/Responsiblities
- Calculate true cost of ownership of fleet assets and provide inputs for project estimating (ownership, fuel, maintenance, repairs, downtime assumptions, replacement).
- Determine useful life by class, and create/maintain a replacement and major overhaul plan.
- Manage Tenna (asset tracking, inspections, utilization, reporting) and driver compliance workflows.
- Manage vehicle compliance and documentation, including IRP, IFTA, BMV and related renewals, filings, and audits.
- Understand equipment needs, coordinate equipment moves, and manage rentals to support production while controlling cost.
- Own the maintenance schedule and coordinate repairs with the Shop Manager, including prioritization and downtime planning.
- Evaluate new technologies and force multipliers (telematics, dash cams, maintenance systems, tracking, routing, fuel controls) and make recommendations.
- Ensure professional appearance of vehicles and equipment (cleanliness, branding, organization, damage control, yard standards).
- Implement strategies to extend uptime and useful life, including PM discipline, inspections, operator accountability, and standardization
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and company policies related to fleet management.

- Fleet and equipment inventory accuracy (VIN/serial, assignments, status)
Qualifications
Required:
- 3 years managing a fleet and/or heavy equipment in a construction, landscape, or service environment
- Strong understanding of preventive maintenance planning and repair coordination
- Working knowledge of compliance concepts (IRP/IFTA/DMV-style renewals, documentation discipline)
- Comfortable building cost models in Excel/Sheets and presenting clear recommendations
- Strong communication, follow-through, and ability to hold standards across crews
Preferred:
- Experience with Tenna (or similar fleet/asset tracking systems)
- DOT compliance exposure (if applicable to your operation)
- Familiarity with landscape/construction equipment utilization and logistics
