Kennel Assistant – Doggy Daycare & Boarding
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and the ability to provide a safe, fun, and nurturing environment for dogs in our doggy daycare and boarding facility. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of our canine and feline guests while also assisting with hospital cleaning, maintenance, and support tasks.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for dogs and cats in daycare and boarding, including feeding, walking, playtime, and enrichment activities.
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels, play areas, and hospital spaces to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
- Assist in cleaning and maintaining the hospital, including laundry, waste disposal, and restocking supplies.
- Monitor the health, behavior, and interactions of dogs, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff or management.
- Supervise group play to ensure safe and positive socialization among dogs.
- Handle animals safely using proper restraint and handling techniques when necessary.
- Support customer service efforts by communicating effectively with pet owners regarding their pets’ needs and well-being.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as record keeping and scheduling appointments.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge related to animal care.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in dog handling, kennel work, or daycare/boarding care is preferred.
- Knowledge of dog behavior and group play management is a plus.
- Strong customer service skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and stand for extended periods.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A genuine love for animals and a commitment to their welfare is essential.
