What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water Service Technician l position at Town of Yarmouth?
The Town of Yarmouth is searching for a Water Service Technician I to
join their Water Division team! Working under the general supervision of
the Water Service Technician II, III, IV, Field Supervisor or the
Production Supervisor, the Water Service Technician I performs manual
work relating to the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of
the municipal water supply and distribution facilities; performs similar
or related work as required. Performs varied duties of both a mechanical
and technical nature to maintain the plant, treatment and distribution
system, following clearly prescribed procedures. Examples of position
specific duties include: Operates a variety of vehicles and machinery
associated with the operation, maintenance and repair of the equipment,
including light trucks, power tools, auxiliary engines, potable pumps
and hand tools. Ability to interpret and follow applicable OSHA
Regulations as they pertain to the work environment. May be required to
work evening or weekends and to respond to emergency or unpredicted
situations. Required to take stand-by/on-call duty on a rotating basis.
RECOMMENDED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalency;
Some experience in the maintenance, repair and operation of a public
water supply and plant/treatment facility and related equipment
preferred; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working knowledge of the general design and operation of a public water
system. Working knowledge of government and industry standards governing
water quality and public water system standards. Possess and maintain a
valid Massachusetts Class D motor vehicle operator\'s license.
