DEPUTY REVENUE COLLECTOR –
WINDHAM REGIONAL REVENUE OFFICE
Windham, CT
The Town of Windham seeks qualified applicants for the position of Deputy Revenue Collector. This is a full-time position (38.50 hrs/wk; Monday through Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; $29.00/hr). This is highly responsible technical administrative work involving the collection and reconciliation of real, personal property, motor vehicle, water, and sewer accounts, as well as the collection and reconciliation of various accounts for other departments, agencies, and municipalities. The position is responsible for assisting the Regional Revenue Collector in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures that enhance customer service and increase employee accountability. Duties include coordinating staff assignments; finalizing reports for theRegional Revenue Collector’s approval; providing information to escrow companies, attorneys, taxpayers, and bankruptcy courts. This position also has the responsibility for making standard collections decisions. The work requires that the employee have considerable knowledge, skill, and ability in municipal collection functions. The position requires the exercise of independent judgment, initiative, accuracy, confidentiality, and supervisory skills. The work is reviewed by observation and audited for achievement of high standards of accuracy, and for favorable customer relations with patrons.
Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Bookkeeping, Accounting or a related field; plus four (4) years of experience as a cashier or performing bookkeeping work, including extensive public contact; or in lieu thereof, an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and QuickBooks, required.
- Must possess Connecticut Municipal Collector Certification (CMCC), required.
- Must possess and retain a valid Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish), preferred.
