Position Summary:
Performs independent and professional level technical and administrative work related to land use planning and economic development activities. Under the general direction of the Town Planner, and or Economic Development Director, or their designee, performs independent technical work, and provides administrative assistance, records management, and clerical duties as may be assigned including and providing exceptional customer service within the Planning and Economic Development Office.
Essential Function of Work:
- Independently complete timely, accurate tasks and prepares correspondence and reports for the Town Planner and Economic Development Director using proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Prepares, composes, and transcribes confidential correspondence, reports, legal notices, agendas, meeting packets, and other documents from drafts, notes, transcription equipment, or verbal instructions.
- Attends assigned meetings to prepare, record, and maintain accurate minutes and ensure proper distribution of related materials.
- Provides high-quality customer service to residents, businesses, developers, and visitors by assisting the public, answering inquiries, and meeting with prospective applicants to explain programs, applications, and office procedures.
- Supports grant applications, project tracking, and reporting.
- Conducts independent research on topics related to the activities of the department.
- Gathers data and statistical information for review by supervisor and manages information utilizing spreadsheets and databases and/or prepares statistical/narrative reports.
- Provides technical information and assistance on subjects such as permits, fees and administrative forms.
- Processes permit applications, collects fees, processing of invoices and maintains related financial records.
- Prepares and finalizes materials for publication including but not limited to department program guides and special projects for town events.
- Plans and organizes work according to established procedures.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and three years of increasingly responsible experience supporting a leadership team and professional office; or an equivalent combination of experience and training as determined by the Town Manager.
