LIFEGUARDS – PART TIME (Flexible Schedule)
Westwood Recreation Department
Westwood Recreation Department seeks dependable, friendly and attentive Lifeguards to fill several part-time openings. Coverage is needed on weekdays, evenings, as well as weekends. We will work with you to design a work schedule that accommodates your availability. As a Westwood Lifeguard you will provide high-quality experiences for pool patrons and uphold the Westwood Recreation Department’s core values of safety, fun, responsibility and respect.
Responsibilities and duties include the following:
- Help prevent injuries by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations and behaviors.
- Enforce and educate patrons on facility rules and regulations.
- Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to all emergencies.
- Administer First Aid and CPR as needed; operate an AED if required.
- Provide a safe and friendly aquatics environment for swimmers.
- Check pool chemical levels. Clean or perform maintenance. Report issues to Aquatics senior staff.
- Keep daily records of pool usage, incident reports, and water quality.
- Perform all other related work as required.
Qualifications and Experience: Minimum 16 years of age. Prior Lifeguard experience preferred. Effective interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to react quickly and calmly in various situations are essential. Must be able to exercise good judgment. Ability to work with individuals of various ages and backgrounds. A positive attitude is welcomed.
Special Requirements/Certifications Needed: Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification to include CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certification.
Salary: This is a part-time non-benefit position with a starting rate of $18.00 per hour.
Shifts Available: Flexible hours including weekdays, evenings and weekend shifts. Will partner with you to create a cooperative schedule.
