Job Summary
Join our dynamic team as a Treatment Plant Technician at our Wastewater Treatment Plant, where you will play a vital role in maintaining the health and safety of our community’s water resources. This energetic position involves operating, monitoring, and maintaining wastewater treatment equipment to ensure compliance with environmental standards. You will be responsible for collecting data, troubleshooting systems, and performing routine repairs to keep the plant running efficiently.
Requirements
- Performs semi-skilled work involving the operation and minor maintenance of sewage treatment plant equipment.
- Cleans and maintains bar racks, weirs, and inflow pits, and performs daily maintenance functions as directed by the Supervisor.
- Reads meters, gauges, and thermometers, and records and reports pertinent operational data.
- Maintains approximately 20 pump stations throughout the town, as well as treatment plant equipment
Qualifications
- Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
- Must pass the DEP Class 1 Operator’s exam within one year of employment.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and Commercial Driver’s License (CDL class B).
- Demonstrates skill in the use of hand tools for mechanical maintenance.
- Can inspect equipment operation and identify flaws or defects.
- Understands and follows verbal and written instructions.
- Possesses experience in manual labor and mechanical maintenance or repair work.
- Must be capable of lifting and moving up to 100-pound bags of chemicals.
- Must successfully complete criminal background and reference checks prior to employment.
