What are the responsibilities and job description for the RECORDS CLERK / MATRON position at Town of West Springfield?
First Shift 4 on/2 off 8am-4pm
The Records Clerk/Matron is responsible for the maintenance of paperwork generated (incidents, arrests, etc.). Also assists with female prisoners including property inventory, search and punch clock every 15 minutes. Employee is required to perform all similar or related duties.
Special Requirements: CPR/First Responder; Leaps Certifications; Suicide Prevention protocols. Must be a female in order to serve as a matron.
Knowledge, Abilities And Skill
Knowledge: Knowledge of police department record keeping practices and procedures and. knowledge of regulations governing the protection of female prisoners.
Abilities: Ability to manage multiple tasks in a detailed and effective manner; ability to deal with contacts in a tactful manner; ability to prioritize tasks in an effective manner.
Skill: Proficient oral and written communication skills. Computer skills are a must.

- Performs warrant printouts and locates LEAPS - wants/warrants, license checks, Q5s, BOP/III, entering stolen motor vehicles and plates, runaways, stolen articles; daily logs, answers phones.
- Types administrative messages; RMV photos.
- Assists dispatch with front counter when busy; restraining orders and summonses; monthly validations, tickets (moving & parking).
- Does property inventory and searches female prisoners.
- Performs Matron duties for female prisoners, strip searching, recording personal property and checks cells to ensure the safety of prisoner.
