Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in accounting and finance, with a strong understanding of accounting systems, financial compliance, and data analysis. This role involves managing complex financial processes, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in supporting our organization’s financial integrity and operational efficiency.
Duties
- Prepare, analyze, and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP, GASB and other regulatory standards.
- Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing procedures.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing and automation.
- Ensure accurate payroll management using systems such as ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, or equivalent HRIS platforms.
- Maintain compliance with SOX controls and internal audit requirements.
- Utilize financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or Workday for data entry and reporting.
- Conduct Excel data analysis using formulas like VLOOKUP, SUMIF, and advanced Excel functions to support financial decision-making.
- Assist with benefits administration, tax filings, and governmental accounting as needed.
- Support internal controls by performing account reconciliations and verifying debits & credits across various accounts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on financial projects and provide insights through detailed analysis.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information while ensuring accuracy in all reporting activities.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience, including public accounting background highly desirable.
- Proven expertise with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or equivalent enterprise systems.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and financial compliance standards.
- Experience with payroll systems like ADP or UltiPro and benefits administration is advantageous.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Excel data analysis, including advanced formulas and pivot tables.
- Familiarity with SOX controls, internal audit procedures, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
- Excellent analytical skills combined with attention to detail and organizational abilities to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
