The Town of Taylorsville is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Public Works Director, a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations and long-term planning of the town's Public Works Department. This position works closely with town leadership to maintain and improve essential services for the community.

The Public Works Director will supervise and coordinate a wide range of municipal services, including streets and drainage maintenance, water and sewer systems, sanitation services, and the upkeep of town property and infrastructure. Responsibilities include directing and supervising department employees, coordinating public works projects, maintaining equipment and facilities, responding to citizen concerns, assisting with infrastructure planning, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and reporting to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen regarding departmental operations and needs.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and experience in public works, utilities, construction, or a related field is preferred. Strong leadership, organizational, and communications skills are important, and prior supervisory or management experience is also preferred. A valid driver's license is required and applicants must reside within a 30-mile radius of the Town of Taylorsville.

This department head position offers a competitive salary based on qualifications and experience. It requires a 40-jour work week with occasional overtime, as well as on-call availability during evenings, weekends, and holidays. Successful completion of a probationary period is required to attain regular employment status, after which the employee will be eligible for group medical, dental, and life insurance coverage, participation in the State of Mississippi Retirement Plan, and enrollment in a tax-deferred savings plan.

Pay: $23.00 - $29.00 per hour
