What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Traffic Safety position at Town of Southampton?
The Town of Southampton is seeking a Director of Traffic Safety. The Director of Traffic Safety is an administrative role that works under the Municipal Works Department.
This position will direct and oversee the work of the Town’s Traffic Safety Office and the Town’s Fleet Management and Transportation Division. Work will include but not be limited to representing the Town’s involvement in regional alternative public transportation initiatives to encourage vehicle volume reduction; direct or assist with studies evaluating existing and possible new public transportation initiatives and impact on road traffic conditions. Studies regarding roadway conditions, capacity, volume, speed, accidents, safety, etc.
Minimum requirements for the Director of Traffic Safety position are either:
a) Graduation from a New York State or Regionally accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree in Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Transportation Planning, or a related field, and six (6) years of experience in the field of traffic engineering, highway planning, transportation planning or the administration of traffic safety programs; at least two (2) years of this experience must have been in an administrative capacity; or,
(b) Graduation from a New York State or Regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Transportation Planning, or a related field, and eight (8) years of experience in traffic engineering, highway planning, transportation planning, or the administration of traffic safety programs; at least two (2) years of this experience must have been in an administrative capacity.
(c) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b).
ANNUAL SALARY - $120,000 plus full benefit package.
*This is a Civil Service position which will require an examination administered by Suffolk County.
