PAY & BENEFITS:
Initial Hiring Range: $45,763 - $50,339
Full Range: $45,763 - $69,286
In addition to the base salary, this full-time position is eligible for an annual performance bonus as well as a longevity bonus.
Paid Holidays: 13 days
Paid Time Off : 0-4 years of service = 23 days/163 hours (7.08 hours per pay period)
Longevity Bonus: Based on Years of Service

Description :
The purpose of this position is to support the Town of Smyrna’s technology systems across all departments and locations, ensuring data security and integrity. Duties and responsibilities include the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of computer hardware, software, peripherals, networking systems, and related components, providing support for Microsoft Office, various desktop applications, network and connectivity support/maintenance and performing other duties as assigned. This position reports to the Director of Information Services
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position. - Provides technical support, training, information and assistance to end users (on-site and by telephone) for hardware and software operations; troubleshoots and/or resolves problems; assists Town departments with special computer related projects.
- Monitors and implements data backup, data recovery, and security monitoring procedures, in coordination with system administrators; places appropriate restrictions on personal computers and servers to maintain security and integrity of data.
- Diagnoses, analyzes and works to resolve/repair problems involving hardware, software, peripheral, or network problems; conducts network analysis to prevent problems; tests equipment and identifies data errors, line failures, and equipment malfunctions; initiates appropriate action to correct errors, recover data, and obtain maintenance.
- Assists with installation and maintenance of wire for voice, data, security, and cable television.
- Reviews installation orders and other requests for service/work orders
- Monitors detection and manual removal of virus’s, pop-ups, and/or by the use of an antiviral program.
- Responsible for new user configurations which includes tasks such as setting up email accounts, group policies for setting permissions, editing, and deleting.
- Document all steps in troubleshooting in a timely fashion, updates inventory in management tools, provides correspondence as needed.
- Monitors inventory of computer equipment, parts, tools and supplies; initiates requests for new or replacement materials.
- Maintains a working knowledge of all departments and their activities, as well as current and future computer needs.
- Communicates courteously and effectively, both orally and in writing, with employees, officials, citizens, supervisors, other departments, system users, vendors, service representatives, outside agencies, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
- Maintains an understanding of the functions and documentation of specific departments to provide necessary support for computer systems, programs, and functions.
- Makes site visits to various Town of Smyrna departments/locations to provide computer support.
- Monitors working conditions of equipment and performs general/preventive maintenance tasks
- Performs computer maintenance tasks such as clearing paper jams, or replacing printer ribbons andntoner cartridges; performs cleaning and preventive maintenance of equipment as needed.
- Operates and utilizes standard office machines and equipment, in addition to computers and other tools and equipment common to information services.
- Provides support in a rotational on call basis.
Helps to maintain, install, and support the Town’s technology infrastructure:
- Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems
- Google Workspace applications and email support
- Desktop applications including Microsoft and various department software packages
- Dell, Cisco switches, routers, and voice communication equipment & software
- TCP/IP communication and configuration of network devices
- IP door access controllers
- Building network wiring
- Basic understanding of Audio/Visual equipment
Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
- Strong analytical and diagnostic skills for basic and complex situations with ability to determine appropriate course of action based on individual circumstances.
- Understanding of Google Workspace and associated applications
- Microsoft Windows 2010 through current releases
- Windows Server 2012 through current releases
- Microsoft Technologies (Active Directory, NTFS File/Folder Permissions, Network Printing & Print Queues, File Shares)
- Workstation, server, & printer installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance

- System Management (Symantec Enterprise Management, Dell Kace, Dell Open Manage)
Additional Qualifications
- Associates, vocational, or technical degree with training emphasis in Information Systems, Computer Operations, Networking Systems, or a related field;
- Supplemented by one (1) year previous experience and/or training that includes computer operations/maintenance, system troubleshooting, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Must be CJIS certified or obtain CJIS certification, including TBI and FBI background checks, within 90 days of employment.
- Must be able to pass and/or obtain any other security clearances as required by the department.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license.
