Job Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Water Utility Skilled Laborer and become a vital part of maintaining and enhancing our water infrastructure. Employee is responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of water lines, water taps, fire hydrants, meter change outs, and other work. This position is under supervision of the Water Foreman.
Duties
- Clean, maintain, and service water pumps, equipment, and tools.
- Assist in the repair, replacement or installation of fire hydrants, water meters, water taps for new construction, and updates to water system.
- Occasional operation of backhoe and front-end loader.
- Read water meters.
- Complete online work orders using a computer/tablet. Other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of the principles, methods, and procedures of maintenance and repair of water lines.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety standards and precautions, and city and state traffic laws, rules, and regulations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with public and other employees.
Experience
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, excavators, backhoes, bucket trucks, and bucket operation machinery in outdoor or construction environments
- Demonstrated knowledge of underground utilities installation, pipeline work, and utility locating techniques
- Familiarity with water systems maintenance, repair procedures, and MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) practices within the energy & utilities sector
- Skilled in using power tools, hand tools, and power safety protocols adherence
