The Planning and Codes Department is seeking a Development Review Planner to join a dynamic and innovative team working on progressive planning initiatives for the sustained growth and vitality of Scarborough, Maine. The ideal candidate will be an independent and resourceful individual committed to public service and the community.
The Development Review Planner will work under the supervision of the Planning Director in the performance of the Town's planning, development review, and development inspection function. The Development Review Planner serves as technical staff to the Planning Board and works with other department staff, including the Town Engineer and Code Enforcement Officers, as necessary.
Job Requirements: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited program in land-use planning, public administration, civil engineering, landscape architecture, landscape design, or related field. Training should be supplemented by experience in planning and/or development design and review. Two to three years of progressively responsible experience in a complex municipal environment is desirable. In lieu of the above, any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered at the discretion of the Town of Scarborough.
Availability to work evenings is required. This position requires outstanding communication and public speaking skills and the ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with municipal officials and the public.
