Maintenance Mechanic II

The Town of Riverhead is seeking qualified individuals to serve in the FT position of Maintenance Mechanic II in the Building and Grounds division of the Engineering department. This position will primarily handle the “grounds” (landscaping) aspect. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and possess a clean, valid driver's license.

Job Duties include but is not limited to:

• Does routine painting of town facilities, sands down walls and other items to be painted, applies primer and finish coat
• Cultivates, prunes/trims, sprays and trims trees and shrubbery
• Maintains grounds under direction of the supervisor by cutting grass, applying fertilizer, trimming hedges, etc.
• Assembles benches, picnic tables
• Empties town trash receptacles at town facilities
• Seasonally removes snow at town facilities, largely with the use of a shovel and/or snowblower
• Checks working conditions of equipment, gives routine service and maintenance on small motors
• Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Town Supervisor and/or his/her designee

Minimum Qualifications:

Either:

(a) Completion of two (2) years of vocational education courses in a vocational school program or in an apprentice or training program in one of the craft areas; or,

(b) Two (2) years of experience in minor maintenance or repair work; or,

(c) An equivalent combination of education, or training, and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b); or,

(d) One (1) year of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic I.

Pays $56,748.57 per annum. Excellent benefit package.
