The Town of Pulaski is seeking applicants for an Engineering Tech/Building Inspector. This is a full-time position with benefits including paid employee health insurance, life insurance, Virginia Retirement, vacation, and sick leave.
The successful applicant is responsible for assisting the Engineering and Building Department in providing the Town with engineering consultation, project management, the administration and enforcement of Town regulations and policies adopted by the Commonwealth of Virginia and Town of Pulaski, inspections, and related work as assigned, to include:
Data Management, to include (but not limited to):
- Asset management and the use of all related software/programs
- In-house surveying
- Utility mapping
Cemetery Management, to include (but not limited to):
- Lot sales
- Citizen requests
- Lot marking
- Permit management
- Lot identification
- Software management
Other Department Responsibilities, such as:
- Citizen requests
- Miscellaneous project tasks
- Project Purchase Orders
- GIS management – ArcGIS Pro
- Building permits and Inspections
- Purchase Orders & Invoice tracking
- Performs technical inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects to determine compliance with applicable building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, energy conservation, accessibility, and related code requirements.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, prepares reports, issues notices of violations, and documents enforcement actions in accordance with departmental procedures.

Applicants must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license and an Associate’s Degree with coursework in engineering or a related field is preferred.
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in construction, maintenance, public works, or code enforcement occupations. , or equivalent relevant education and experience.
