Public Works Technician – Streets, Parks & Facilities

Role Description The Public Works Technician – Streets, Parks & Facilities is a full-time, on-site role based in Ponder, TX. This position is responsible for performing hands-on maintenance, repair, and upkeep of town streets, parks, and public facilities. Daily tasks may include street and sidewalk repair, sign installation, mowing and landscaping in parks, trash and debris removal, and basic building maintenance such as painting, minor repairs, and custodial work. The technician operates a variety of tools, equipment, and vehicles while following safety procedures and town standards. The role also involves responding to work orders, assisting with special events setup, supporting other public works projects as needed, and interacting with community members in a professional manner.
Qualifications

• Ability to perform manual labor, operate hand and power tools, and safely use light- to medium-duty equipment such as mowers, tractors, and small utility vehicles.
• Basic skills in maintenance and repair of streets, parks, and facilities, including landscaping, minor carpentry, painting, and general building upkeep.
• Understanding of workplace safety practices, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to town safety policies and procedures.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work respectfully with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
• Reliable time management and organizational skills, including the ability to complete assigned tasks, prioritize work orders, and maintain accurate records or logs.
• High school diploma or equivalent; prior experience in public works, construction, groundskeeping, or facilities maintenance is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record; ability to meet any town vehicle use requirements.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and to lift, carry, push, or pull moderate to heavy loads as required by the job.
