What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director Water Supply position at TOWN OF NORTH KINGSTOWN?
Town of North Kingstown, RI (population 28,000), located on Narragansett Bay, seeks qualified applicants for the position of Director of Water Supply. Water System is a medium sized groundwater supplied system supplied by 9 wells (250-1,650 GPM) located in 3 aquifers, 5 storage facilities with 182-mile distribution system piping, and approximately 10,000 service connections.
Responsibilities include: overseeing Department of Water Supply and Wastewater Management District; management of staff of approximately 10 service/pump operators & 3 administrative staff; infrastructure planning; preparation of bids; annual and long term budgeting of operations and capital needs; coordination with R.I. Department of Health; rate structure; support to Town Staff and Advisory Committees; all aspects of providing a quality product to customers. Director of Water is a Department Head and reports directly to Town Manager.
Candidates should have experience in operating a water system (municipal preferred) as well as knowledge of compliance with regulations for Safe Drinking Water Act and Water Department Rules, Regulations and procedures. Thorough understanding of/experience with recently enacted federal PFAS regulations and relevant rules/standards (i.e. Lead and Copper Rule), are strongly recommended. Candidates should possess the following licenses:
- RI Dept. of Health Grade 3 Distribution License & RI Dept. of Health Grade 2 Treatment License (or equivalent from a state with a reciprocity agreement in place);
- Valid Driver's License.
A degree in Civil Engineering, Hydrogeology, or in the physical and/or biological sciences is preferred.
Salary, based on qualifications and experience, is expected to be in the range of $90,500 -$102,500, plus benefits.
