ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT – GR. 2
DPW ADMINISTRATION
FULL-TIME (36 HOURS PER WEEK)
SALARY RANGE: $22.03 TO 32.54 PER HOUR
The Administrative Assistant provides administrative and accounting support to the Department of Public Works and assists with the daily operations of the office; performs all other related work, as required.
Responds to requests for information and assistance from the public and other town departments. Prepares and maintains financial records, reports, purchase orders, and permit-related documentation; posts receipts, completes required tax and audit forms, and assists with departmental procurement and year-end budget close-outs. Maintains accurate files for all ongoing projects and collaborates regularly with Accounting, Engineering, and Department heads to ensure timely and accurate financial operations. Performs various administrative duties as needed, including customer service support, payroll assistance, and serving as dispatcher during Snow and Ice operations.
High school diploma; Associates Degree preferred; additional training in office skills and computers; three years of office experience, including data processing and accounts receivable; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of town government and departmental operations; knowledge of office practices and procedures; knowledge of computer software. Ability to interact tactfully and appropriately with the public; ability to work independently and meet deadlines; ability to maintain records; ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing. Organizational and planning skills; computer skills; record keeping skills; office skills; interpersonal skills; written and oral communication skills.
