The Town of Needham is seeking qualified individuals to fill the position of Seasonal Driver for the Traveling Meals Program within the Health and Human Services Department. Under the general supervision of the Traveling Meals Coordinator, the Seasonal Driver Traveling Meals packages, labels, and delivers meals in accordance with Article X of the state sanitary code.
We are looking to fill four (4) Seasonal Driver roles and two (2) Substitute Seasonal Driver positions to serve as backup support when regular drivers are unavailable. This seasonal position runs from Monday, June 15 through Friday, August 28, 2026.
All pick-up and drop-off locations are throughout the Town of Needham.
Hours: Roughly 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM (up to 15 hours/week)

- Duties and Responsibilities
These duties are a general summary and not all inclusive:
- Pack and label meal packages.
- Drive to locations to deliver meals and navigate to front doors, including those in apartment buildings and housing developments.
- Roughly 25 deliveries per day, making contact with clients, and relaying concerns to Traveling Meals Coordinator when necessary.
- On rare occasions, may be required to enter home to put away meal items.
- Maintaining vehicle trip/mileage logs and submitting for mileage reimbursement.
- Requirements
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record and be at least 18 years of age.
- Knowledge of Needham roads and neighborhoods or ability to use GPS to navigate roads and neighborhoods within the Town.
- Reliable automobile with an up-to-date insurance policy.
- Ability to maintain vehicle trip/mileage logs.
- Knowledge equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.
- Ability to communicate reliably and effectively with Needham residents and Town staff.
- Heavy lifting is required (i.e. filled coolers) up to and including 50 pounds.
