Driver's Education Instructor

REPORTS TO: Driver’s Education Coordinator

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: New instructors must commit to a 65-hour paid training to be completed over the first two months of hire. Upon completion of training, instructors must then commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week in either lessons or classroom instruction. More hours are available upon request. Scheduling is seasonal and dependent on instructor availability. The training rate is $21 per hour. The starting rate for new instructors is $26 per hour.

JOB SUMMARY: Nantucket Community School is seeking a Driver’s Education Instructor to provide in-car driving lessons and classroom instruction to teens and adults year-round. Applicants must be 21 or older with a valid Massachusetts driver’s license. CORI check required.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Clean driving record.
• Experience in classroom management and teaching is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the Driver’s Education Coordinator on a regular basis for scheduling.
• Positive attitude, attention to detail, and ability to manage time efficiently.
• Training will be provided on island, and a written licensure test must be passed.
