What are the responsibilities and job description for the SCOREKEEPER I OR II position at Town of Morrisville?
Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to support the athletics division by accurately keeping score for baseball,softball, volleyball and basketball games and tournaments while ensuring smooth game operations. Scorekeepers assist with event setup, reporting, and administrative tasks, while also enforcing policies and providing information to participants and staff. This role requires strong communication, basic sports knowledge, and the ability to responsibly manage both game duties and participant interactions.
Position Responsibilities
- Keeps score for athletic leagues, keeping a scorebook (paper or electronic) and running a scoreboard
- Assists in setting up gyms and fields for league play
- Fills out accident report forms and incident report forms
- Fills out results forms and playing time sheets
- Assists with the administration of special events and league-related activities, such as equipment distribution, uniform distribution, and league team placements
- Communicates issues and problems to Supervisors/Duty Officers and/or full-time Athletic staff,
- Enforces Town of Morrisville policies
- Provides routine information and answers questions on departmental policies, procedures and services
- Performs other job-related tasks as required
Position Qualifications
General knowledge of major sports, particularly baseball, softball, basketball and volleyball, and some knowledge of other sports; ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing; ability to read and write handwritten and typewritten materials; ability to use iPad's and other related technology.
