There is a full time permanent Social Caseworker B position open in the Arapahoe County Department of Human Services Adolescent Intake Unit. This position will be utilizing comprehensive knowledge of child and adolescent development and family dynamics.

Duties

The youth services caseworker assesses, coordinates services, and advocates for youth and their families in a culturally competent manner. Decisions are made reflecting the philosophy of the agency, which includes a strength-based focus, the best interest of the youth and family, the safety of the community while maintaining fiscal responsibility by thinking creatively. The worker acts as a liaison between the judicial and delinquency systems, schools, mental health, services providers, and other collaterals. Clinical skills are necessary to provide a thorough assessment of family and systemic drivers to the referral behavior and a comprehensive knowledge and implementation of various treatment modalities while continuing to provide case management services is critical in order to link families with the most appropriate services. Exceptional organizational skills are required to effectively manage the volume of work and crises; caseworkers must remain flexible to accommodate families’ schedules by working outside normal work hours. The worker must be capable of determining what services the community/family can provide without Department intervention. The Worker must be able to link the youth and/or family with the appropriate services ranging from placement alternative services to kinship/foster care to the highest level of residential treatment services to achieve a permanent plan for the youth and their family. Accountability to the various parties is reflected by accurate electronic documentation (Trails).

Requirements

EDUCATION:

MSW or

BSW or

Bachelor's or Master's degree in the human behavioral sciences fields.

Experience

Three (3) years of full-time professional social casework experience acquired after the completion of the human behavioral sciences degree in a public or private social services agency.

A MSW will substitute for two(2) of the three (3) the required social casework experience.

A BSW or Master's in a human behavioral science field will substitute for one (1) of the three (3) years required social casework experience.

Successful completion of a pre-employment and CBI finger-print based background check.
