About the RoleThe Town of Mooresville is seeking an energetic and community-minded Part-Time Recreation Assistant to support a wide range of recreation programs for children, teens, adults, and seniors. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with people, contributing to meaningful community activities, and helping create positive experiences for participants of all ages.
The Recreation Assistant supports program planning, daily operations, and facility upkeep, while also serving as a welcoming point of contact for visitors. Program Support & Implementation
- Assist with planning, organizing, and delivering recreation programs, including summer camps, arts and crafts, youth activities, adult programming, and after-school programs.
- Help supervise participants during programs and special events.
- Provide support for daily program operations and activity preparation.
Facility & Administrative Support
Assist with the daily maintenance, cleanliness, and security of recreation facilities and equipment.
Register participants for programs; answer telephone inquiries regarding Parks & Recreation activities.
Assist with booking rooms, activities, and facility rentals as needed.
Data & Record Management
Maintain the Recreation Division’s registration software, including entering programs and activities for online registration.
Prepare monthly reports and help track program attendance, usage, and updates.
Create and maintain accurate records, forms, and organized filing systems.
Minimum Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- One to three years of experience in recreational, athletic, or leisure activities — or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Special Requirements & Skills
Creative thinking, writing, and editing skills with attention to detail.
Strong communication and organizational abilities.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with recreation software is a plus.
Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
