Building Maintenance Custodian
JOB SUMMARY:
Provide maintenance and custodial services for Town owned facilities, parks and multi-purpose trails.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Open and close Town municipal buildings and facilities.
Provide maintenance and custodial services for Town municipal facilities, parks and multi-purpose trails, including but not limited to the following:
- Maintain and repair physical structures and utility systems of buildings and grounds
- Ground maintenance activities such as mowing, trimming, weeding, raking, watering, pruning, planting, snow removal and disposing of refuse
- Clean and maintain tools and equipment
- Repair of plumbing, electrical and carpentry items as required
- Various event set up
- General Building Cleaning and pick up as needed
- Operate a variety of equipment including but not limited to the following: floor machine, carpet cleaner, lawn mower, snow blower, weed eater and leaf blower in the performance of regular duties.
- Thorough knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment and ability to follow moderately difficult oral and written directions
- Thoroughness; resourcefulness; dependability; good judgment; tact; courtesy; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
Any other duties as assigned by the Building and Maintenance Department Work Supervisor.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
At least 5 years in a building maintenance position or equivalent experience in a skilled trade.
Graduation from high school or possession of high school equivalency diploma.
Required to have New York State Driver's License.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS & BENEFITS
This is a full-time position with the Town of Malta. The standard work schedule is 40 hours per week, with occasional evenings, weekends, or overtime required to support Town operations, special events, weather emergencies, or other operational needs.
