Littleton High School Academic Support Center & Bridge Program
The Littleton High School Academic Support Center provides academic support to students throughout the school day. Students receive instructional support and work collaboratively with staff to develop study skills and improve executive functioning skills in a small group setting. The mission of the Academic Support Center is to encourage students to engage as active learners, set goals, and identify and implement strategies for academic success. The Academic Support Center is available to students who have been recommended by school counselors, teachers, and/or the Student Support Team and approved by school administrators.
The Academic Support Center operates in tandem with the LHS Peer Tutoring Program that is open to all students at Littleton High School. Community volunteers and peer tutors may also be available to assist students in a variety of content areas as needed.
In addition to responsibilities for the Academic Support Center, the Academic Support Center teacher also facilitates a small Bridge Program that helps students who need short-term, intensive academic and emotional support returning to school or transitioning to Littleton High School after extended absence and/or an experience that has had significant mental health impact. As part of this role, the teacher actively collaborates and communicates with colleagues, school-based and outside clinicians, and parent/caregivers in the implementation of a transition plan that includes clinical care and academic support for each student in the Bridge Program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Current MA DESE content area teaching license required & teaching experience preferred
Current SEI endorsement or endorsement by June 2027 required
Demonstrated interest in teaching students struggling with complex challenges
Strong emotional intelligence and stability necessary for the work involved
Familiarity with trauma-sensitive education
Such additional qualifications as Littleton High School may find appropriate & necessary

JOB GOAL:
The Academic Support Center Teacher collaborates with teachers, counselors, and administrators in scheduling and monitoring assigned students’ academic support and progress. This teacher also focuses on developing specific executive and study skills.
In addition, the Academic Support Center Teacher facilitates the work of the high school Bridge Program. This teacher works closely with teachers, administrators, professional support personnel such as school counselors, nurses, and school psychologists in providing significant clinical and academic support for student progress with course completion and credit accumulation.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
In collaboration with teachers, develops and implements the academic component of the overall case management plan for each student in the Academic Support Center and Bridge Program.
Collaboratively plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students, including modifying existing curriculum and developing modular units allowing students to achieve credit.
Assists teachers with monitoring academic work, attendance and student progress data.
Pro-actively communicates with teachers, counselors, and school administrators regarding the academic program and progress of each student, maintaining student confidentiality as needed.
Engages in consistent two-way communication with parents/caregivers to keep them apprised of student progress and gather feedback and information to support student learning and well-being.
Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and assessments.
Employs instructional methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives, including leading small-group and 1:1 tutoring sessions with students.
Assesses the progress of students on a regular basis and provides input on progress reports as required.
Communicates with colleagues, students, and or parents on a regular basis.
Assists the administration in implementing policies and rules for student conduct, and classroom procedures.
Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher assistants as needed.
Attends staff meetings, IEP/504 meetings, and other meetings as needed.
Participates in Littleton Professional Development offerings.
Other duties as assigned.
Salary : $50,700 - $113,500
