This position involves basic to advanced, skilled mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of all electrical, mechanical, and structural equipment relative to the operation of the Town’s Water Filtration Facility and Water Pollution Control Facility and all associated facilities within the Town’s Department of Utilities. Worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold and heat, noise, vibration and working in hazardous conditions (such as confined space and high voltage environments) in all types of weather conditions.

Possession of a valid driver’s license and safe driving record. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment. Knowledge in MS Suite applications and computer program applications appropriate to the position. Knowledge of OSHA and other workplace safety programs. Confined Space Certification, Fork Lift Certification and First Aid/CPR Certification or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.

Utility Plant Technician: (4) Four years of experience maintaining a water treatment or wastewater treatment plant, industrial electrical, industrial mechanical or industrial HVAC experience. Experience construction plans, reading line drawings and/or electrical diagrams. Completion of an electrical, mechanical or other associated trade school. Bilingual in English/Spanish. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B.
OR
Senior Utility Plant Technician: Associates Degree or completion of college courses. Seven (7) years’ experience maintaining a water treatment or wastewater treatment plant. Supervisory experience in a similar environment. Knowledge of equipment maintenance procedures and tracking. Knowledge of pumps and motors. Completion of an electrical, mechanical, or other associated trade school. Advanced Computer skills. Bilingual. Possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B.
