POSTION SUMMARY:
To work under general supervision, this position performs a variety of Town related maintenance and repair tasks of more than ordinary difficulty requiring certain techniques or special knowledge which generally are acquired through experience on the job; and to perform related work as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
· Assists with construction, maintenance and repairs of Town roads, bridges, culverts and road right of ways.
· Operates equipment and machinery incidental to public works maintenance activities.
· Available during snow season for plowing, salting and ice control operations.
· Trims and removes trees.
· Drives truck compatible with required CDL – hauling sand, gravel, stone, etc.
· Cuts grass and trims weeds from road right of ways, Town parks and cemetery.
· Performs a variety of building maintenance repair duties.
· Performs maintenance of Town parks, trails, cemeteries and public facilities.
· Preforms tasks related to stormwater drainage systems, ditches and flood-control measures.
· Performs minor maintenance to motorized equipment.
· Maintains records on equipment.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment commonly used in public works construction and maintenance work.
· Considerable knowledge of occupational hazards and safe work practices.
· Ability to perform a variety of building maintenance repair tasks.
· Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Prior public works experience is beneficial.
· CDL required.

· Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments in all weather conditions.
· Regular exposure to loud noise, heavy machinery, and seasonal hazards (snow, ice, flooding)
· Frequent standing, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and operating heavy equipment.
