The Town of Jackson is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented administrative professional to support its Legal Department. This position supports attorneys and plays a key role in managing and coordinating legal operations, records, and public information requests. Key responsibilities include preparation and editing of legal documents, contracts, correspondence and reports; coordination and management of public records requests from intake through response and maintenance of organization of electronic and physical records; central point of contact with Town departments, government agencies, and the public; conducting research and gathering information to support legal and operational matters; handling confidential information with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgement; and assisting with special projects and helping to improve processes and organization across the legal department.
The ideal candidate brings:
- 2-4 years of experience.
- Bachelors degree in office management, business, communications, or a related field.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and completeness.
- Strong organizational skills, proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of research methods and the ability to locate, evaluate, and synthesize information from public, legal, and government sources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
- Sound judgement and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with document management software; experience with records management systems preferred.
- Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving ability, and capacity to anticipate and resolve issues.
- Ability to exercise independent judgement, make delegated decisions with confidence, and recognize when matters require escalation.
- Notary Public (or w/in 60 days).
